On Saturday's BLUE, we hear more music by Meredith Monk; a selection from Irish jazz musician, David Redmond's, "Roots", just issued on the Spanish Fresh Sound New Talent label; Shostakovich's "Moderato for cello and piano in A Minor"; American pianist Aaron Parks, from a new ECM solo album; young, Irish classical pianist Fiachra Garvey (see video); Ahmad Jamal, in advance of his visit to Dublin in January; tasteful movie music by Thomas Newman; Pierce Turner, Lisa O'Neill and (Limerick-born) Aphex Twin; part of Howard Skempton's Clarinet Quintet; David Sylvian with Ryuichi Sakamoto (from "Secrets Of The Beehive"); Oscar Peterson recorded in Germany by the MPS label; 3 recordings associated with Bob Dylan; Havana-born pianist/composer Harold López-Nussa; and the late Florian Fricke.

Friday's BLUE comprises Brad Mehldau, ahead of his solo performance at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, on Sunday night; a reading of "La vallée d'Obermann" by Liszt, that you'll find on Louis Schwizgebel's debut album; oud-player Anouer Brahem; re-issued Teddy Edwards and Howard McGhee; Tangerine Dream's "Circulation Of Events", from way back when; new Zemlinsky Quartet, performing Dvorak; UK jazz pianist Tim Lapthorn, accompanied by Navarra String Quartet; part of the title track of the late Neil Ardley's "A Symphony Of Amaranths", only recently made available on CD; Rory Gallagher recorded with Martin Carthy; Glenn Gould, performing a Bach aria; Big Bill Broonzy (see video), with a certain key to the highway; more from Meredith Monk; and a selection from "Child Ballads", a release by Anais Mitchell and Jefferson Hamer.

This Sunday night, we hear a Beach Boys song, re-invented; Arcadia Quartet from Romania (its first Irish tour begins in Castleconnelll, Co Limerick on Tuesday night); Evelyn Glennie performs music by Scott Joplin, who may have been born on this day in 1867; we listen to 2 compositions by Hans Werner Henze; Wynton Marsalis is featured on Copland's "Quiet City"; also on BLUE tonight, singer-songwriters Laura Veirs and Laura Marling; part of Albert Roussel's "Le poeme de la foret"; solo jazz piano courtesy of ECM debutant Aaron Parks; Ravel's "Le Gibet", played by pianist Louis Schwizgebel (see video), from a new solo CD; Sonny Rollins with big band; tunes by Loudon Wainwright, Elvis Costello and Muddy Waters; and Benjamin Britten's "Lachrymae".

On Saturday's BLUE, Eamonn links part of an organ symphony by Louis Vierne; recordings by the Soweto Gospel Choir and the Soweto Strings; a selection from "Travel Guide", a new, 3-guitar album by Ralph Towner (see video), Wolfgang Muthspiel and Slava Grigoryan; part of Toshio Hosokawa's "Kalligraphie"; John Hollenbeck (with Kurt Elling), in advance of the drummer-bandleader's appearances in Belfast and Dublin over the coming days; a Liszt symphonic poem; Eddie Vedder's reading of "You've Got To Hide You Love Away"; and we hear a movement from the String Quartet No.3 by Benjamin Britten.

Kennedy's assassination, we hear Schubert's "Ave Maria", a piece that was performed at the President's memorial service (see video, relating to the night the news broke); Nick Cave interprets a Paul McCartney song that wishes for a more harmonious world; we listen to Tchaikovsky's original "Nutcracker Suite" and Duke Ellington's re-arrangement of the work courtesy of a new recording by Harmonie Ensemble; also on Friday's BLUE, John Coltrane with vibes-player Milt Jackson; Granados for solo piano; the voice of Maria Pia De Vito, from "Il Pergolese", a recent ECM release; vocal ensemble Heinavanker, performing an Estonian folk hymn; John Cale appears with Brian Eno; and - on St Cecilia's Day, and the centenary of Benjamin Britten's birth - we hear more music from this week's featured artist.
